William “Bill” Maney
Trained for his military service in the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech.Graduated in June 1952 as a Mechanical Engineer.Commissioned as 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army.Deployed to Korea in September 1953. At a stop over at Camp Drake in Tokyo on his way to Korea he won slots and purchased a 35 mm camera at the PX which he used to chronicle his tour of duty including over 200 digital images. His battalion was responsible for the repair of roads and bridges and the maintenance of all engineering equipment for the 2nd Infantry Division. The Division defended the center of Korea at the DMZ.
